Domaine Jacques Carroy – Pouilly Fumé
The lively fruit of this wine is enhanced by a touch of flintiness and bracing minerality
At a glance
Pale golden color with an intense nose that starts off with evergreen notes but is dominated by the strong minerality that is true to the region. Further aeration reveals subtle citrus and white floral aromas.
Though the characteristic acidity of Sauvignon Blanc is bright and refreshing in this wine, it is surprisingly generous in the mouth. The evergreen and citrus flavors are confirmed on the palate with a lengthy finish and just a touch of hazelnut at the end.

The region – Pouilly Fumé, Loire Valley
Pouilly-Fumé owes its wine-growing roots to Benedictine monks dating back as far as the 11th century. The wines from this region often have a slight scent of smoke or gunpowder to them. This comes from the flint in the soil. Unlike its cousin Sancerre on the other side of the Loire river, wines with the Pouilly-Fumé distinction can only be white from the Sauvignon Blanc grape.
